THANKSGIVING MASS HELD IN HONOUR OF GOU REGISTRAR AND SPOUSE

The Vice-Chancellor of Godfrey Okoye University, Enugu, Reverend Father Professor Christian Anieke, has urged Nigerians and Christians in particular to cultivate the habit of gratitude to God for His blessings and favours.

He gave the charge during a Thanksgiving Holy Mass held in honour of the Registrar of the University, Dr. Mrs. Peace Ike and her husband, Mr. Tochukwu Ike, Director of the National Museum, Enugu, following their recent elevations.

In his sermon, the Vice-Chancellor reminded the faithful that thanksgiving should not be seen as a means of compelling God to do more but as a sincere and heartfelt appreciation for His goodness. He emphasized that gratitude should be offered because it is the right thing to do, not out of expectation for additional blessings.

Reverend Father Professor Anieke described Dr. Mrs. Peace Ike and her husband as an ideal couple, commending their dedication to family life and excellence in public service. He noted that since assuming office, the Registrar has introduced a strong culture of excellence, professionalism, and due process, ensuring that official activities are properly documented and duly signed.

He also described Mr. Tochukwu Ike as a gifted and talented artist with remarkable potential.
In their responses, the couple expressed deep appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor for his support and guidance and pledged to continue to live as worthy role models in their personal and professional lives.

Also speaking, the younger brother of Mr. Tochukwu Ike, Reverend Father Hillary Ike, an officer in the United States Army, thanked the Vice-Chancellor for his brotherly support to the family and commended Dr. Mrs. Peace Ike for her humility.

The Thanksgiving Mass was attended by principal officers of the university, deans, professors, and other members of the Godfrey Okoye University community.
