GO University Branch of The Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD) is an international non-profit organization, inaugurated in the University in November 2022. Aimed at building a strong network of female scientist and mentor the younger scientist at attaining their full professional potentials.
OWSD was founded in 1987 and is the first international platform to unite prominent female scientists from the developing world, aimed at building strong scientific leadership. The forum provides research opportunities such as PhD fellowship program, annual awards program, to young committed women scientists, amongst other objectives as follows;
- Increase the participation of women in developing countries in scientific and technological research, teaching and leadership.
- Promote the recognition of the scientific and technological achievements of women scientists and technologists in developing countries.
- Promote collaboration and communication among women scientists and technologists in developing countries and with the international scientific community as a whole.
