Transformative Initiatives at Godfrey Okoye University!
Our Vice Chancellor, Reverend Father Professor Christian Anieke, has emphasized our mission to innovate and lead by example in higher education. Recently, he proudly received certificates for students who completed the first cohort of the 2024 Skills Acquisition Programme (SAP) and the Skills Acquisition Month (SAM).
These initiatives, developed by our Directorate of Entrepreneurship in collaboration with the West Africa Broadcast Media Academy (WABMA), equip all our students—from their first year to their penultimate year—with valuable skills. The SAP and SAM certificates are proof of our graduates’ strong backgrounds and readiness to take on future challenges.
We’re also thrilled to announce a new technopreneurship programme from our Department of Computer Science, to prepare our students to become job creators upon graduation.
Thanks to Mr. Christopher Chidiebere Uwakwe, our dynamic Director of Entrepreneurship, for his dedication to enriching university education. His leadership has led to 15 partnership applications for our GO Startup Incubation Centre. Many of our students are already thriving, either employed or running their businesses on campus.
Special recognition goes to Dr. Ike Okere of WABMA for announcing scholarships for 10 of our staff members, and reaffirming their ongoing partnership with us.
We are also grateful to our Pro-Chancellor, Prof Christian Nwachukwu Okeke, for his constant support and encouragement, which greatly benefits our students.
Mr. Uwakwe also shared that our Faculty of Law will play a crucial role in protecting the patents of our entrepreneurs. Plus, he’ll be certified as a master trainer in entrepreneurship next month, and our Directorate’s influence is spreading to Kenya and South Africa!
The event was honoured by the presence of Deputy Vice-Chancellor Administration, Professor Gozie Ogbodo, our Registrar , Dr. Nnamdi N.S Ene, Deputy Registrar, and the HOD of Computer Science. Together, we’re making a significant impact and setting new standards
