Valedictory Service in Honour of Dr Cordelia Ndubuka!
Today, the 2nd day of September, 2024, our university community gathered at the Chief Anthony Mogbo Auditorium, Ugwuomu, to honour the life and legacy of the late Dr Cordelia Ndubuka, the pioneer Head of the Department of Nursing Science.
In a heartfelt valedictory service, Reverend Sister Professor MarySylvia Nwachukwu, representing our Vice-Chancellor Reverend Father Professor Christian Anieke, described Dr Ndubuka’s passing as a profound loss not only to our university but to the entire nursing community.
Dr. Ndubuka was celebrated for her remarkable contributions to the development of our nursing school, her unwavering commitment to excellence, and her exemplary professionalism. Her impact on the department and the nursing profession as a whole can not be overstated. We are deeply saddened by her departure but are comforted by the rich legacy she leaves behind.
Professor Frank Akpuaka, Provost of the College of Medicine, and Professor Chika Ugochukwu, Head of the Department of Nursing, joined in paying tribute to Dr Ndubuka, highlighting her exceptional work ethic and relentless pursuit of her goals.
The Ndubuka family, represented by Mr. Kelechi Ndubuka expressed their gratitude to the university for this touching tribute, acknowledging the deep appreciation and love their mother received within our community.
We also extend our deepest sympathies to her family and colleagues during this difficult time. As we mourn her loss, let us strive to uphold and build upon the incredible standards she set.
Present at the service were several esteemed members of our university, including Professor Modesta Egiyi, University Bursar, and Dr Juliana Iwu-James, University Librarian, along with other principal officers.
