VC FOR ONE DAY: KACHISO CHINEMEREM MAKES HISTORY AT GODFREY OKOYE UNIVERSITY!
Godfrey Okoye University Enugu witnessed a moment of pride and inspiration as Miss Ihekwaba Kachiso Chinemerem, a dedicated computer science student, emerged as the Vice Chancellor for One Day!
Kachiso achieved this prestigious honour by taking 1st position in a General Ability Test among four exceptional students with a Cumulative Grade Point of 5.0 for the 2023/2024 academic year.
As VC for a day, Miss Ihekwaba presided over the University Senate, showcasing her exceptional leadership skills.
Rev. Fr. Prof. Christian Anieke, the University Vice Chancellor, expressed joy at the event, stating that it reflects the rewards of investing time in doing the right thing. He highlighted how this innovative initiative has positively projected the university, elevating it among the top 10 private universities in Nigeria.
The Provost of the College of Medicine, Emeritus Prof. Frank Akpuaka described the initiative as a crowning moment of public service, while Deputy Provost, Prof. Marian Unachukwu commended the university’s commitment to empowering the girl child.
The Head of the Computer Science Department, Dr Frank Okebunanma praised Miss Ihekwaba’s dedication, humility, and good character, which earned her this honour.
Dr. Mrs. Ihekwaba, her mother, joined via Zoom, lauding her daughter’s resilience and diligence, while Miss Ogbonna Deborah, Vice President of the Student Council of Honour, noted how this achievement would inspire others to strive for excellence.
The highlight of the event was a visit to the State Government House, where the VC for a day and her entourage were warmly received by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia.
This initiative reflects the university’s commitment to rewarding excellence and fostering leadership among students.
