Godfrey Okoye University, Enugu, was honoured to host the former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, during his visit to the College of Medical and Nursing Sciences today.
Mr. Obi expressed great satisfaction with the remarkable transformation the college has achieved since his last visit, describing it as a powerful demonstration of dedication, vision, and purposeful leadership.
As part of his commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s educational and healthcare systems, he made a generous contribution of ₦15 million to support the ongoing infrastructural development at the University.
Speaking to the students, he encouraged them to see themselves as more than learners. “You are global citizens who will shape the future of our healthcare sector and represent Nigeria proudly,” he told them, emphasizing the need to provide young people with the right tools, environment, and moral grounding to excel.
The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Enugu, Most Reverend Callistus Onaga, the Vice-Chancellor of Godfrey Okoye University, Reverend Father Professor Christian Anieke, and the CMD of the GOUNI Teaching Hospital, Professor Amechi Katchy, all expressed profound appreciation for Mr. Obi’s unwavering support and his consistent belief in the transformative power of quality education.
