A new chapter in medical excellence as Godfrey Okoye University Teaching Hospital unveils newly commissioned facilities.

The Catholic Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Most Rev. Dr. Callistus Onaga has commissioned new facilities at the Godfrey Okoye University Teaching Hospital, Enugu, during a tour with members of the diocesan curia.

While addressing the curia members, Bishop Onaga praised the Vice-Chancellor of Godfrey Okoye University, Very Rev. Fr. Prof. Christian Anieke and his management team for their commitment, creativity, and courage in breaking new frontiers. He also commended the Provost of the College of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Frank Akpuaka, and the Chief Medical Director of the Teaching Hospital, Prof. Dr. Amechi Katchy, for their dedication, urging them to continue working in unity to achieve the institution’s vision and goals.

In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor expressed deep appreciation to the Bishop and curia members for their moral, financial, and spiritual support for the university. He noted that Godfrey Okoye University is among the few private universities in Nigeria with its own fully functional teaching hospital, a development that gives the institution a strong advantage in the training and quality control of medical students and doctors.

He further disclosed that the Teaching Hospital is fully equipped, has 25 resident doctors, 50 consultants, and all the necessary departments, making it ready for accreditation.

Speaking earlier, the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Dr. Amechi Katchy thanked the Bishop and curia members for the visit and commissioning, adding that the hospital provides round-the-clock care with expert doctors attending to patients.
