The Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord was marked at Godfrey Okoye University with a deep call to reflection, obedience, and faith in God’s divine plan.
During the Holy Mass held at the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Convocation Arena, Thinkers’ Corner Campus One, Rev. Fr. Edward Kanife reminded the university community of the profound significance of the Annunciation as a moment of divine encounter between God and humanity. He emphasized that the incarnation of Christ remains the ultimate expression of obedience, Christ’s total submission to the will of the Father.
He urged the faithful to recognize that true holiness lies in surrendering to God’s will, even in difficult and uncertain moments. According to him, the solemnity challenges Christians to see God in one another and to live lives marked by humility, faith, and readiness to answer His call.
Drawing from the example of the Virgin Mary, Rev. Fr. Kanife encouraged everyone to embrace a life of availability and devotion to God’s service, noting that her response continues to inspire a truly authentic Christian life.
In his message to staff and students, the Vice-Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Prof. Christian Anieke, reflected on the significance of the Easter season, describing it as a sacred period that celebrates the victory of life over suffering and death through the resurrection of Jesus Christ. He noted that the resurrection remains the foundation of Christian hope, assuring believers of redemption and new life. The celebration served as a moment of spiritual renewal for the university community, reinforcing the call to live out faith with sincerity, courage, and total trust in God.
