The vital role of fathers as the bedrock of the home was the central theme at the Omnium Sanctorum Chaplaincy, Thinker’s Corner, as the community gathered to celebrate Father’s Sunday.
In a powerful homily, Rev. Fr. Ebuka Ozoude, representing the Rector and Vice Chancellor of Godfrey Okoye University, Rev. Fr. Prof. Christian Anieke, described fathers as the “pillar and cornerstone” of the family, drawing a parallel to Christ’s role in the Church. He emphasized that fatherhood is a sacred vocation that demands immense sacrifice, patience, and unwavering love.
Fr. Ozoude noted with concern that society often overlooks the quiet hard work and tremendous efforts fathers invest in supporting their households. He urged the faithful to change this narrative by actively recognizing and appreciating the contributions of men. He encouraged fathers to remain steadfast in their calling, despite the challenges and responsibilities inherent in their roles.
In a significant gesture of appreciation from the University management, the Rector provided special gifts of wrappers to all registered members of the Catholic Men Organization (CMO). This act of benevolence was complemented by several parishioners who made cash donations to support the organization’s ongoing initiatives.
Responding to the gestures, the Chairman of the CMO, Mr. Tom-Frank Uketui, expressed deep gratitude to Rev. Fr. Prof. Christian Anieke and the chaplaincy priests. He lauded their consistent support and kindness, noting that such recognition serves as a great encouragement to all fathers in the community.
The celebration concluded with a sense of renewed commitment, as fathers were reminded that their presence and leadership remain the stabilizing force for the family, the society, and the nation.
