Celebrating the heart of the home: Highlights from Mothering Sunday at Omnium Sanctorum Chaplaincy.

The sacred role of motherhood and its vital impact on the fabric of society took centre stage yesterday as the Omnium Sanctorum Chaplaincy, Thinker’s Corner, celebrated Mothering Sunday in grand style.

In a stirring homily, the Rector of the Chaplaincy and Vice Chancellor of Godfrey Okoye University, Rev. Fr. Prof. Christian Anieke described motherhood as both a sublime virtue and a unique gift to the world. He noted that the strength, compassion, and love provided by mothers serve as the essential bonds holding families, societies, and nations together.

Fr. Prof. Anieke urged mothers to continue living up to the high expectations of their calling while expressing deep appreciation to the Catholic Women Organization (CWO) of the chaplaincy for their unwavering contributions to the growth of the diocese. He also called on children and the wider society to prioritize the care of their mothers, honouring the immense sacrifices made during their upbringing.

Echoing these sentiments, the founder of the Odenegene Foundation, Captain Everest Nnaji, congratulated the women and described them as the true pillars of society. In a significant gesture of support for the organization’s mission, Captain Nnaji announced a generous donation of five million naira to the CWO.

The President of the CWO, Mrs. Obiageli Okonta expressed profound gratitude to the Rector, praising his consistent benevolence and his fatherly support for the mothers of the chaplaincy.

The celebration reached a joyful climax with the presentation of wrappers to registered CWO members, a gift from the Rector that further highlighted the spirit of appreciation and charity that defined the day.
