2026 GOUNI STEP-S Train-the-Trainers Workshop concluded on a high note

The week-long 2026 GOUNI STEP-S Train-the-Trainers Workshop concluded on a high note as 12 newly minted facilitators were officially presented with their certificates.

The ceremony marked the end of five days of intensive, hands-on training designed to fortify the university’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Presenting the awards, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Administration and Dean of Postgraduate Studies, Professor Sergius Udeh, and Master Trainer Dr. Anyway Mikiori described the certificates as more than just paper. They are evidence of a rigorous journey. The program’s core mission was to equip these trainers with the precise skills needed to mentor students, helping them transition from classroom concepts to building sustainable, real-world businesses.

Dr. Mikiori, who travelled from South Africa to facilitate the session, praised Godfrey Okoye University for its exceptional hospitality. He challenged the new facilitators to look beyond the immediate environment, urging them to carry this entrepreneurial flame across Nigeria and the wider African continent.

The Director of the Directorate of Entrepreneurship, Mr. Christopher Uwakwe  extended his deep gratitude to Dr. Mikiori for his dedication. He reminded the participants that the success of the STEP-S initiative rests on Africans taking the lead in building a resilient and self-sustaining business environment.

To show their appreciation, the university and the workshop participants presented Dr. Mikiori with souvenirs, honouring his contribution to the growth of entrepreneurship at GOUNI.

With these 12 trainers now fully equipped, the university is set to launch a new wave of student-led ventures, further solidifying its reputation as a leader in practical education.
