The pre-mobilization briefing for prospective corps members has been highlighted as a fundamental pillar of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) process, ensuring that students are fully prepared for their transition into national service.
During a session held yesterday at the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Convocation Arena at Godfrey Okoye University, the Head of Operations for the NYSC South-East Area, Mr. Christopher Eze addressed final-year students on the importance of this orientation. He explained that the briefing is designed to familiarize students with the history and objectives of the scheme, as well as the technical requirements for a successful mobilization.
Mr. Eze emphasized that beyond documentation, the NYSC remains a vital tool for fostering patriotism, discipline, and national unity. By bringing together young Nigerians from diverse backgrounds, the scheme continues to provide a unique platform for social and cultural integration.
Practical guidance was also a key focus of the event. The Principal Assistant Registrar in charge of Mobilization, Mrs. Oguchukwu Onyia provided critical advice on the administrative side of the process. She specifically warned students to ensure their academic records align perfectly with their National Identification Number (NIN) to avoid delays or complications during registration.
The University Bursar, Prof. Modesta Egiyi closed the session by thanking the NYSC team for their presence. She urged the students to take the information seriously, noting that strict adherence to these guidelines is the surest way to guarantee a seamless and hitch-free service year.
