Dear Members of the University Community,
As part of our ongoing cybersecurity awareness program, April focuses on social media safety and digital identity protection.
In today’s connected environment, information shared online can be easily accessed, copied, and misused. Cybercriminals often use publicly available information to carry out impersonation, phishing, and social engineering attacks.
To protect yourself:
– Avoid sharing sensitive personal or academic information online
– Be cautious when accepting friend or connection requests
– Regularly review your privacy settings on social media platforms
– Be aware of fake profiles and AI-generated impersonation attempts
– Think carefully before posting content that could impact your reputation
Remember, once information is shared online, it may be difficult to remove completely.
If you encounter fake accounts, suspicious messages, or any form of online impersonation, please report it immediately to the GOUNI ICT Cybersecurity Awareness Unit.
