He is Risen: Easter Hope and the Assurance of Life at Omnium Sanctorum Chaplaincy

The Gospel of the Resurrection is more than a historical account; it is a message of profound hope and the firm assurance of life after death for all who believe.

During the Easter Mass at the Omnium Sanctorum Chaplaincy, Thinker’s Corner, the Rector and Vice-Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Prof. Christian Anieke delivered a homily centered on the transformative power of the Risen Christ. He urged the faithful to remain optimistic, anchoring their lives in the promises of God and consciously cultivating virtues such as love, faith, hope, peace, truth, patience, and compassion, that lead to eternal life.

Fr. Anieke emphasized that a strong faith is the ultimate weapon against fear, which often weakens the human spirit. To build this spiritual resilience, he encouraged the community to commit to three essential practices:

Active participation in the Holy Mass.

Regular study of the Holy Scriptures.

A consistent and improved prayer life.

Addressing the congregation, particularly the students, the Vice-Chancellor noted that the power of the Resurrection is a source of empowerment for academic and personal success. He explained that embracing the Risen Christ frees individuals from the shackles of sin and provides the courage to stand for social justice, equity, and peace in society.

The celebration concluded on a high note with a special recognition of the youth. In appreciation of their dedication, Fr. Anieke announced cash rewards for the members of the Catholic Youth Organization of Nigeria (CYON) and the Nigeria Federation of Catholic Students (NFCS) who dramatized the Passion of Christ, as well as for all those who worked tirelessly throughout the Easter activities.
